The most extravagant & selfish thing I ever bought was a "Green Lantern" ring.
The original ring had been designed by a ringmaker named Robert Morris, but he had discontinued making this ring. He used to make them for Warner Brothers store in NYC.
After he discontinued them, I went to a jeweler and had a ring made in the form of the Green Lantern symbol (in sterling silver).

I spent £53 on an autograph on eBay. Not the most expensive thing granted, but in terms of how much actual use I'll get out of it and how much money I have, it was pretty extravagant.

i bought, a few pieces at a time, a complete DJing outfit, not knowing whether i'd ever find a place to play for pay. it worked out well because i worked hard to get where i am now with it.
it seemed "extravagant" at the time, but now i make $700 a week for 3 nights "work" (lol) and that's just a sideline for me.
