Klebsiella is a genus of bacteria that naturally occur in our gastrointestinal tract. There are about a dozen species of Klebsiella bacteria. When klebsiella bacteria get out of the GI tract, nasty infections can happen because they tend to be resistant to most antibiotics. Generally, klebsiella infections occur in people with weakened immune systems.
