2x - 14 = 6
2x = 20
x = 10
This doesn't make sense. I think you might have been missing a squared term somewhere.

if the problem is what you stated then the answer is 10 as the previous answer suggested. However, it looks like the problem should be (2x-14)^2=6
If that is the case then the equation resolves to:
4x^2-56x+190=0
or, 2x^2-28x+95=0
the roots of this equation are 7+sqrt(3/2) and 7-sqrt(3/2) which do not correspond to any of your options.
I think there is a mistake in the statement of the problem.

your answer's above do not make any sense.
2x - 14 = 6
first you would add 14 to both sides
so add -14 + 14 which makes the 14 cancel out
then add 14 + 6 = 20
divide 20/2 = 10 because you want to get x by itself
x = 10
make sense?

Well, x should equal 10, but I am not sure what the -4 or 4 of answers a and b have to do with anything in this equation.

2x - 14 = 6
2x (+14) = 6 (+14)
2x = 20
x/2 = 20/2
*x = 10

[2x - 14] = 6
2x - 14 = 6
2x - 14 + 14 = 6 + 14
2x = 20
2x / 2 = 20 / 2
x = 20 / 2
x = 10
