To the answerers citing anecdotal stories about it being cold in X-town, you didn't read the link which talks about GLOBAL average temperature. You should read it.

That may depend on which part of the country you live in. I just read this morning that this was the warmest winter recorded EVER here in Ohio.

"on record" being the key term. I'm in NY right now and its snowing pretty bad outside as I type. Have you also noticed that in January ever time they quoted "the last time it didn't snow in central park was 1864 and the first snow came on January 7 of that year". Why are there comparison dates so damn long ago? I'm sure if you looked far enough into history there has been a winter it didn't snow in the greater NY area and the mean seasonal temp was above 60 degrees.

By the way I'm republican and I believe in global warming

Ironically enough this years warmer winter is exactly what let gas prices drop because we didn't need to use so much for our heating - which means the greenhouse gases (that scientists say would make it warmer) we're not released so much this winter - and people we're finally able to get on top of their out of control energy bills...it was really a good thing.

Ummmm, I thought winter included March? And I thought it didn't start until December 21? And I thought that the first half of autumn was actually cool?

See this is what I'm talking about - they cherry pick their data - - THEY pick the beginning and end of a period and say "it's the warmest on record" and then when the next period is average or cool, you don't hear from them.

Reuters?

ROFLMAO

Reuters is America's version of Al-Jazeera. They couldn't tell the truth if it was in front of them.
