I got some of those little tanks that you can put 2 betas in but they are divided. I plan on keeping the divider covered so that they don't see each other. I'll be gone for over a week so I'm taking them with me. Do you think that these will be okay for about a week? They normally each have their own tank, but since it's a temporary arrangement and I don't have room to take all 4 big tanks I'm hoping this isn't too mean!

The sections are about double the size of their little cups that they come in, but they've got a little gravel and the plant that came with the tanks. I also put like 2 decroative stones in there. (They take up very little space) I tried to make them as much like their original home as possible, but are you sure it wont be too much stress to go to such a cramped environment from a 1 or 2 gallon tank?

I filled them with beta water since they have no filtration. Should I go ahead and use a drop or so of stress coat?

I'll go with MM on this one - I'll also add to try to keep their temperatures warm and constant.

What I've done when travelling with fish is to use an old cooler (bought at a second-hand store) to keep the fish in. This keeps the temperatures more consistent and also keeps water from splashing and my seats stay dry.

I personally wouldn't bother with any special water or stressZyme unless you normally use it in their water. Just take a jug or two of tap water with dechlorinator (or what you would normally keep them in), so there wouldn't be any change from what they're used to if you plant to do a mid-week water change. But, I'd also take along some extra dechlorinator in case of emergencies.

As long as the water condition is good, they should be fine.

Don't have put any decorative gravel/stones as it may hurt them when you are on the road, especially when you go over bumps.

If carrying fish tanks are also too much of trouble, you may even consider putting them in those 1.25 litre bottle each. You can close the lids tied so long as the water to air ratio is around 50 : 50.

Betta are hardy fish, they will most likly, than not, survive a week w/o food.

p/s I took 8 betta on a 3-hrs flight to my in-laws' house twice and they have all 'enjoy' the trips, not a fin/scale lost.

So, not to worry, you will be fine.

Cheers

Yes that will work out just great. I travel with my goldfish all the time they both get to be in a big pickle jar for up to 2 weeks at a time a 5 gallon jar. I change the water every 2nd day and they are just a happy pair. They love travelling and always enjoy the car ride. They ride in the front with me and enjoy the music.

That should work out fine. I would place them in bags for the actual ride, and only use the tanks when you are going to be in one place overnight or longer. Don't forget your water treatment!

Well, considering they live in muddy puddles made of the hoofprints of oxen in the wild, I think they'll manage. I once (having to other option) brought one of my betas from NY to Florida and back in a water bottle and he liked it just fine.

As long as it is divided and they can't get to each other, it should be fine.
