There are so many shavers in this world, electric and mechanical, and it is interesting what people shave from themselves to their cats or dogs whiskers, and whatever else has hair. I was reading a question on yahoo? Questions and Answers, and someone asked why would someone shave a cat, and there was a picture of a shaved cat, and this is no joke and honest, I'm not making this up, so why, and what is this all about? I will admit, as I guy I like to shave my legs to make and keep them smooth.

because it feels cleaner... easier to maintain (less grooming, less washing, etc...) and to avoid lice and fleas...

There are two main reasons I suspect. Either they want to make their hair easier to maintain or they just like style hair and the like

Hair can be shaved to control parasites and because it is less trouble and more comfortable. If you have ever had a dog with a very thick coat of fur, you would probably shave it in the summer to reduce shedding on your carpets, matting, and pests. It is also more comfortable for the dog.

The other reason can be demonstrated with the poodle. People like to shave the poodle's hair into neat little formation because it is pretty and fun. It is similar to getting a hairstyle.
