If you dont see anything at all when you start the boot up, its going to be one of two things.
a) Your monitor is dead
b) Your video card is dead
Try unplugging the monitor from the system and leave it on. See if it displays a message saying there is no input.
You can also try to go in to the monitor's on screen menu if it has one.
If neither of those works, its likely that the monitor is dead. If those work, then you may want to try to boot in to safe mode, and see if you are able to see anything. If you are, then the problem is that the display settings are set too high for the monitor to handle. If you cant see anything there, it may be the video card is dead.

Does the light on the monitor come on? If so you know the monitor is getting power. If not you might just need a new power cable for the monitor. If the monitor is getting power but still no image comes on you should try hooking a different monitor up to the computer to see if the same thing happens. If the other monitor works you know the problem is the monitor. If it happens on BOTH monitors it could be a video card issue. At that point you would probably want to let the geek squad check it out. Take it to someone who can run a diagnostic on it.

First make sure your monitor is turned on. you should have a light on the front of it and when u hit the power button on the monitor you shold see some type of activity on the screen (a flash or a slight change in color, etc)
if you have another monitor lying around, try plugging that in and see if its the monitor thats the problem (thats what it sounds like to me).

If the monitor is on, and showing nothing, you should find another monitor and plug it in. If the second monitor works, the first one is broken. If the second monitor also doesn't work, the video card on your computer may have gone for a burton...

could be your monitor is broken (I had this problem and it turned out it was the monitor)
Have you not got another monitor or one you could borrow to test it out?
I also wonder if possibly your graphics card might be broken (but I suspect you would have problems first....like your screen freezing lots etc before it actually goes altogether)
