Answer is water. So many unique properties, very unique. Se Asimov's book. The point is, move the earth in, just a little bit towrds the sun, or, a little bit away from the sun, or, change the tilt of the earth, and, poof, water is no longer a liquid on the earth, and then, no life could have been supported and evolved. Fact is, the earth is unique in its position, so, so, many factors allow are fragile little world to exist. If man pushes a wrong button, poof, it WILL change, and, not for the better...
