The scary part of that movie is the entire underlying theme...

That children that are raised by parents with ridiculous beliefs or ideologies are raised to believe everything their parents tell them, and it is usually not until they get out on their own that they begin to learn certain truths.

Unfortunately, many people go through life with the same sick beliefs that were ingrained by their parents. I.E. racists, terrorists, fanatically religious, etc...

I loved it and thought it was a great movie. It is not a scary movie though. Like all of his films, they are more like thrillers than scary movies. (6th sence, Signs, Village, Unbreakable, Lady in the Water)

It was not billed as a horror movie. I think people just assumed it was because of the Sixth Sense and Signs. I understand that the movie company wanted people to go see it so they kind of tricked people into thinking it was similar to his last two, very successful films.

The point of the story is to show what people go through when society becomes too painful for them and what lengths they may go to to get away from a corrupt and dangerous society and protect thier children and thier future generations from going through it too.

Not a horror movie.

It's more realistic than you typical "scary" movie so you're right. However, I don't think that was the intention of the director. It is more of a suspense movie with a great twist.

I literally figured out that movie's "surprise" twist in the first 90 seconds. When the title "Bucks County, Pennsylvania" comes on, but there is no date, I knew it was set in present day.

It's a flop.

I thought it was okay. It seemed like he was trying too hard to put a twist in the end. I actually know two people who were in the movie (they were extras), so I guess I'm a little biased.

It was a bit scarey, until you realized the truth behind it. Although a bit crazy, I think mostly it shows the extent that people will go to in the attempt to live in a more peaceful & safe world.

i liked it. it was strange but all of his movies are strange, hence the appeal. i love movies that deliver something you aren't expecting even if it turns out to be silly.
