I'm just curious of how you use the internet. Is it to look up news or more so to market your business?

The way one would use the internet with a business can vary widely with individuals. However one can always look at some averages.

Your question has consumption (e.g. Business as an internet consumer) and producer components.

One can quickly try to get a rough general estimate using individuals as a proxy:

Based on December 2006 Data 91% of internet users "use a search engine to find information." Based on March 2005 data 78% of internet users research a product or service before buying it. Based on Aug 2006 data 71% buy a product.

Business as a producer:
15% of internet users sell something online.

Individuals can serve as good proxy predictors of micro business trends.

Check the sources for other interesting activities polled for use as a proxy.

If you are less interested in abstract stats and more interested in general online ideas, terminology and trends in "business and the Internet" there is also an excellent free business and internet type primer in the sources.

To get e mail notifications that my purchased leads have come in and then call them to see if they qualify for my business and if they do, I then direct them to a web site to watch a presentation and then I follow up and find out if they are ready to get started.

I also use it for my E zine, that comes once every week to my business partners who then forward it to their list of people they have partnered with to inform business developers of our next conference call or Webinar to view what we are teaching.

I also use it to pay for adds on other E Zines or Classifieds located in gateway web sites related to my business(ses).

I also use it to find out time zones in other countries so that when I call a prospective business partner, I don't call them at 2am in the morning by mistake.

I use it to see if people have accepted an invitation to my web site or e mail or online video so that I can keep track of who is an active prospect and who is a looky lue.

The internet is a tool and it brings people together who would have never met all over the world rather inexpensively compared to a world that didn't have the Internet not too long ago when it limitted opportunities to the wealthy.

I have an on-line home based business cheapplaneandcruisetickets.com. I use sponsored links to advertise my site. What help a great deal is that my domain name cheapplaneandcruisetickets has several keywords to show what my business is about. Check Yahoo, Google, MSN and other search engines for more information. They offer a wealth of information.

It depends on your business. However it's a great way to show people things like menus or general information or even have a webstore. It all depends on your business.

It is a great addon for any real world business though I think.
