It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Sounds like you both need to compromise. Plan a certain number of vacations and a certain number of household projects every year.
To an extent, it also depends on what exactly needs to be done. Cosmetic fixes are not nearly as important as structural ones. In other words, your home should be safe and livable, but it doesn't need to be a showpiece. Your kids are only young for so long, when they grow up they aren't going to remember how the tile in the kitchen coordinated perfectly with the counter tops, but they will remember how much fun you all had together camping in Yosemite or snorkeling in Hawaii or whatever else you all do together.
If you and your husband are unable to reach a compromise then it's time for some couples therapy as the issue is bigger than vacation vs. home improvement disagreements.

I would love to have my children see the world as well a have a nice home but i feel its more love than stuff that makes a nice happy home

this is something that my wife and i have to deal with. we travel alot and we have the house that need to be fixed up. we sit down and go over the financial. in regards of how much for travel vacation & how much for fixing the house. we do one major project a year and one big vacation. it seems to work out fine. as long as we both agree.

Just strike a compormise somewhere in between. Like tell him if you guys get one room fixed up then you will plan a vacation for summer, etc. bargain. there is no reason why both of you cant get what you want.

Why did you marry a child? There is no0thing wrong with "seeing the world" but this "baby" is too selfish to put this in the right order. If he thinks differently he is eveen worse.
Show him this and if he thinks differently it shows how very immature he is. Toss him out!

And what makes you think his priorities are not straight? You are trying to force him to adhere to your value system without paying any mind to what's important to him. You both need to compromise to get what you want.
