Depends on the crime. I beg to be on the jury when it's a child molestation case. Otherwise, not so much. Though, the trials can be entertaining, the pay is lousy though. Perhaps you could take some cocktail umbrellas to amuse yourself should you be chosen?

I know I should say that as an American, you should be honored to be chosen to assist in our legal system.
OK, now that I have the PC crap out of they way, I hope you don't. I got stuck in jury duty for 3 very long weeks for a murder trial and I swear I didn't understand half of it!
The best way to get out of it is to state that it would be a financial hardship to miss work.

Think of it as an experience to add to your life.
Here we don't have juries, we are Greek, all interrelated and we would let everybody off.
If you get chosen, try and make a decision that you will feel good with in the years to come, and don't give in to peer pressure.Someones life is at stake, don't be superficial!

I would wish not to be chosen. I hate just sitting there for hours though as you go through the process of who they are going to pick.

I would say better to not be chosen. Especially if your work is not paying you for your time!
