Whenever the hunchback dude betrays the spartans and goes with the persians, the king of the spartans tells him that he hopes that he lives forever, why is that?

well from what i gathered, its because the greatest honor for a spartan, and the only way to achieve true glory is to die in battle. hes basically telling the hunchback that he's no longer a spartan in his eyes and he hopes he never sees that true glory.

King Leonidas wanted him to suffer for what he did. He knew the hunchback hated his appearance and others around him did as well, no matter what kind of pleasures Xerxes seduced him with. To a Spartan, the biggest honor was to die in battle, and the hunchback threw it all away, including his own heritage.

because the sparten king knew the hunchback was unhappy with the way he looked and no one loved him, it was like a curse, that he lives forever looking like that and being hated.

in shame. The spartans greatest honor was to die in battle. So he wanted him to live.

i think maybe because it was noble for them to die for what they believed and since he betrays them he wants him to suffer forever.
