Sportychick - That trick of adding the whole number before the percentage is truly awesome! So simple, yet I never heard/saw/used this before, but now that I know about it, I'll use it all the time. And just in time for tax-return time!
The number of times I've punched in a number to get a percentage, only to get the amount and then forget what the darn original number was must be into the thousands by now.
I didn't have any homework tonight - those days are gone forever - but I certainly learned something useful.
Thanks very much.
Debra C - I hope you took careful note of this trick - you'll use it your whole life - :)

You shouldn't cheat, but if you don't understand it, I will help you.
you start out by changing percent to a decimal.
11% is equal to .11.
An easy way to do it is to multiply 8,950 times 1.11
(you multiply it with the one so that you dont have to add the fees on later)
Your answer, in turn, will end up being $9934.5

$9934.50. First find out 11% of $8950 and add it to the original price.
