I like it a lot, I think it's respectful..

I picture a little girl named Alana being smart, loving, fun and creative but just a bit serious and that would add to her enjoyableness.

Yes indeed its not a name your hear often but personally I think it's a great name.
I went to high school with a guy who married an Alana his beautiful H.S.sweet heart. She was a gal who was golden inside and out. They were very devoted to each other for 20 yrs. Alana was stricken with breast cancer and they thought that they had it cured. She died soon after.
The guy was in mourning for nearly 10 years. He told everyone he still was married. He's is a train engineer and finally re-married 20 yrs. after his first wife passed away.

Honestly, I think the name sounds like a little rich stuck-up girl, but my cousin's name is Alana and she isn't like that, so I guess it's fine. I'm not crazy about it though.

Yes. I have a friend who's older daughter is Alana. It sounds Hawaiian. It's different, but not weird.

Hmmm? ...Alana........I think it sounds cute, plus...one of my friends daughter's name is Alana. It also seems to go well with a one, two or three syllable last name (try it)

I had a friend Alana, and love the name. For a different twist, try Elaina....maybe???? Both names sound femenine and delicate.....
