There are more and more WWE "superstars" who are coming from real wrestling backgrounds.

Of course Kurt Angle wrestled in the '96 Olymipic Games

Brock Lesner was a 2 time NCAA champion

Both Charlie Hoss and Shelton Benjamin are NCAA champions

Bobby Lashley wrestled in the world military championships

Many other superstars have some varrying degree of wrestling background. For example, the Rock wrestled in high school.

Bottom line is that there are many legitimate wrestlers who become pro wrestlers. Not all of them are, but it is a good background to have if you want to get into the business today.

If they wanted to, they could really wrestle. Kurt Angle was even a gold medal Olympist. But all of the matches are staged. Stone Cold Steve Austin even told how one of his was staged about how he was supposed to cover the guy and win the match but he hurt his back before covering the guy and after several minutes he was finally able to cover the guy. It may be staged but they do risk bodily injury when they do it.

Think about it. If it wasn't staged, then why do none of them ever have a black eye or bruise on their face when they get "punched" there. Those guys are definitely big and strong enough to deliver a black eye. It's because they don't actually hit the guy. If you watch closely, the fist never really hits the face it goes along the side of the face and with the camera angle it makes it look, for the most part, like the wrestler hit him. They do other little tricks also to make it look and sound real. You'll also notice that they'll stomp one of their feet when they go to hit the guy. The stomping sound give the impression they are hitting him. From what I've heard from people that have helped set up and take down the stage and wring, they even put microphones under the ring to pick up the sounds of the boards slapping each other when they jump up and down in the ring. Then the sound from the microphone is routed through the speakers at the facility for enhancement and to make it sound more real to the crowd.

But yeah, the matches are staged. Even though it's staged they get hurt and go through pain in the match. Even Hulk Hogan winning against Andre the Giant was staged as part of Andre the Giant's retirement and him handing over the torch to Hulk Hogan in a manner of speaking.

If you really got thinking about how you could most draw the crowd's interest through drama and stuff like that you can even predict who is going to win in almost every match and even if the guy is going to throw the match or if someone is going to come in and interrupt it.

Yes, they could really wrestle if they wanted too.

Even though professional wrestling is staged, the actors(superstars) go through extensive physical training to be able to perform without getting hurt. WWE wrestlers perform moves that are so dangerous that they can easily get hurt even though it's not real.

I would go as far as to say that I believe it would take more skill to be a professional wrestler(WWE superstar) than a true wrestler(high school,college,Olympic,etc.).

A few of the "wrestlers" have a history of high school and college wrestling on their resume, but a majority are just performers that can't actually wrestle. They're just performers that have been trained on how not to injure each other.

The wrestling is staged...but the storylines on WWE are sometimes entertaining...and DX has the best entrance music in wrestling...(Rage Against The Machine)...

well all the storylines are fake and stuff but i mean when you get hurt ... it obviously hurts.. some fake injuries because its in the script but alot of the moves hurt.. exspecally if u r off by a inch! i mean when ur up in the air u can pul ur muscles and yeah... look in the 2 recent magazines... the one wit john and batista... on pages it shows what could happen if exicuted wrong... a few days ago my eyes were tearing up like crazy! i fell right on my head and ugh it hurt so bad... i pulled somthing in my neck and ugh god! but punches u can tell alot are fake... but like watch the whole mickie vs trish thing with jack and when mickie gose to mick kick him in the chair she totally misses and screwd up noticably.. but alot of the moves include alot of contact and alot of the blood is real. i use blood packs when i have matches and someone bleeds.. very rarly though.. but like shawn michles he uses a blade.. u can tell when they do.. if u look at shawn last week when they were talkin ifu look closly u can see little lines on him head.... but they cut themselfs so fast u dont relize it. i like ur shirt lol
