I live in Buffalo, so I can definitely tell you what's going on. Here are some attractions you might consider:

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens (it's warm inside!)

Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society
http://www.bechs.org/
Frank Lloyd Wright Darwin D. Martin House
http://www.darwinmartinhouse.org/...
Buffalo Zoo

Wilcox Mansion

Albright-Knox Art Gallery

Buffalo Museum of Science

Karpeles Manuscript Museum

If you want to go to the bars, just go to Chippewa Street in downtown Buffalo (near the arena). It is full of bars There is also Allen Street (drive up Delaware and turn right on Allen). Frizzy's on Allen Street is a good, laid-back bar. I prefer the neighborhood bars over anything on Chippewa, but if you're interested in clubs, then Chippewa might be for you.

Also, catch a show at the theatre or visit some museum exhibits. You can find theatre and museum information at http://buffaloathome.com/Entertainment.aspx. Click on Gallery News and On Stage.

If you want to go shopping, go to Elmwood Avenue (you can access Elmwood Avenue from Chippewa). It's my favorite place to shop and they have tons of local boutiques. If you want chain stores, then go to the Galleria Mall (http://www.waldengalleria.com/ though what's the point in visiting Buffalo if you're going to shop in chain stores? Buffalo's economy is very much based on locally-owned business, which is what makes it so unique.

Best places to eat:

K. Gallaghers (73 Allen St), Bob and John's in North Buffalo (http://www.bobandjohns.com/, Gabriel's Gate (145 Allen Street) and Anchor Bar (where chicken wings originated - http://www.anchorbar.com/

Hope this helps!
