If you start it on the first day of your period then it will start working straight away. Any time after that then you have to wait one week for the pill to work correctly. You should read the instructions that come in the box. It explains all you need to know and will put your mind at ease.

your meant to take it the day after you finish your period. If you take it at the same time everyday for a week you will be covered, this is the same for anytime in your cycle.

If you miss a pill take it for 7 days and your covered. Personally i would't trust the idea that if you take it on a certain day of your cycle your covered; as it can be difficult to tell where in your cycle you are as you can ovulate at different times.

as for the injection idea someone offered. DON'T DO IT! i was on the injection for 2 years from when i was 16. It has some bad side effects..one of which is weight gain. Everyone i know who has had it has put on 1 to 3 stone

steer clear!

If it is the combined pill then you start to take it on the first day of your period and should use other contraception for the following 7 days. The progesterone pill works in the same way

You normaly start to take your first pill on the first day of your period, then you are protected straight away. If you take it half way through you'll have to use other contraception for a week to make sure you are fully protected. Your instruction leaflet should give you clear instructions on how to take your pill. Hope this helps

Start it on the first day of your period and it takes effect straight away. Take it later and you have to use alternatives for 7 days. Your doctor will tell you all of this anyway - and if not it is all on the information sheet inside.

If you start taking it at the end of you menstrual cycle then it works right away because it supresses ovulation. If you start it any other time in your cycle you need to wait a month.
