Day Counting is not really all the useful for trying to conceive. Even if you have a textbook length cycle, that's no guarantee that you ovulate when calculated, especially if you have a short or borderline luteal phase (time between ovulation and the next period). And Day Counting doesn't tell you when or if you have fertile cervical fluid, necessary for conception.

If you are not already, I highly recommend charting your fertility signs (such as cervical fluid and basal body temperature).

SOme sources for charting your fertility signs: THe books The Art of Natural Family Planning and Taking Charge of Your Fertility. The websites CCLI.org, Ovusoft.com, Fertilityfriend.com

Well you dont ovulate during your period. Ovulation normal happens around 2 weeks prior to when af is due, this can be off a few days either way. If you chart your flow on a site like mymonthlycycles.com or somewhere this will give you an average likelyhood of when you ovulate, but again they only go by an average. If you really want to know, you can by an ovulation predictor kit, or start temping.

Are your periods regular? If they are then its easier to tell. If they are not then that is a whole different story. In the simplest terms you generally ovulate about 14 days BEFORE you are due to get your NEXT period. People will tell you you ovulate 14 days after your period starts but that only works in people with a 28 day cycle.

Try this website to start:

Good luck!
