I agree that there's nothing they can do short of taping to the next toe for some stability but do watch the toe. If after a month it still looks bruised (if it ever does), you will need to have them check it.

This sounds sooo gross but I've broken toes--no problem. I banged one and let it go (as per my experience) and months later it still looked bruised. I finally went and what had happened was the flesh inside the foot had gotten damaged and was "festering." This can happen, I had 3 surgeries to correct it last year! So, just watch it and if after a month it looks bruised, GO IN to a podiatrist or orthopaedic surgeon. Otherwise, ignore it and take some ibuprofen for any pain the first couple of days.
Feel better!

A sprain is when you twist, pull or overextend the ligaments of an articulation. The only thing to heal a sprain is time and protect your injury. There is not really any point in going to see a doctor, because even if your toe were broken all they can do is tape it to the toe beside it. You can do that yourself if it helps. Wrap your injured toe then tape it to the toe beside it using it as a splint for your injured toe. Be careful putting shoes on and walk with caution. You should see after a few days the swelling should subside you can take Tylenol, Advil for the pain

ahh, that stinks. I actually dislocated my big toe once, it was stuck, bent up at the middle "knuckle". I had to go to the emergency room to get them to pop it back into place, and believe me, it did pop. Other than that though, they just kinda told me to be careful. There is really not much you can do. If anything, I might try making a "makeshift" splint to hold it in position, and other than that, take some aspirin and stay off it as much as possible.....

Put some ice on it twice or three times a day. Also try some Motrin or Naproxin four times a day for the swelling. You should only go to the doctor if it persists for more than three or four days.

Good luck and G-d bless !!

From my previous knowledge there is nothing they can do for toes other than use surgerical type to tape it to the next toe to keep in immoblized. Good luck. I am not a doctor though.

If it is not broken then no need to see the doc. If you think you broke it and want that confirmed then see the doc for x-rays. For broken toes they only buddy tape it to the next toe anyway so it is not totally necessary to see the doc.

put ice on it, take 400mg of motrin, and try not to put too much pressure on it. No, don't go see a doc. You'll waste your money.
