Try using a pin. Find the center of the knot, slip the pin in and gently shake the knot loose. Once it loosens just pull the pin up holding the loose link until the knot comes out.

If it's a fine kink in the chain, gently rub your fingers up and down the area, playing with it until it comes out.
An actual knot will require sitting down with a needle and picking it apart. Time consuming maybe but worth it.

Try laying it flat on a smooth surface, and use a fine tipped tweezers. It is sometimes helpful to have another person available to hold or move parts of the chain. Good luck!

Soak the chain in baby oil....it will take out the kinks and enable you to loosen the knot.
