Certain clothes comes out of the washer with spots on them. It almost looks like oil spots. Bleaching will not get rid of the spots. My machine is about 9 years old.

Whenever my daughter would wash her clothes and use the liquid fabric softener, it would always leave oil looking spots. The main reason is, she would pack the machine. Try putting less clothes in the machine so that they can tumble freely. Usually rewashing the clothes a second time would remove the spots. If using a liquid fabric softener, try washing a few loads without the softener to see if you still get those spots. Probably wont, I don't think that it is your machine doing it

First question:
Do you start the washer, add soap, then clothes? If you pour soap directly on your clothes then start the water in your machine, you will typically find the type of stains that you describe. All types of laundry detergent will leave a greasy- type residue when poured directly on dry clothing. It is easily fixed if you follow these steps:
1) Start machine first
2) Add soap to filling washer and allow a few seconds so detergent will break down.
3) Fill washer with soiled clothes.
