I'd say it's scarier with the music. In a realistic situation, we all know there's no music, but in a movie, it sets the mood: there's fear lurking around every corner--where's the killer?! Then you hear this chilling tune and. . . there he is. See what I mean?

I like the music. Most of the time it's the music that makes me jump and not what's really going on in the movie!

Okay, be honest with yourself. When you encounter some strange phenomenon in real life that you must face, don't you somehow "play" music in your head that heightens the discovery of the unknown? Or helps speed you through obstacles with quick-timed music? Same with spooky movies. Music sets you in the mood to be scared.

I think the music adds a little something to the scene that primes you to jump out of your seat. So many scary movies utilize this tool that it's become ingrained in so many moviegoers, and we start to tense up just by hearing the screeching violins.

i think it is better to have no music if there is going to be LOUD music. BUT,very sudle music that you are not even aware that you are hearing because of the intensity of the Sean can bring that edge that puts the Sean right where it was intended to be, Chilling and scary.
