Do you really think people would stop having abortions? NO. Why? Because when you get pregant (by accident) and you are not able to support the baby the thing to do that makes the most sense is to not have it. Or if your really young. Why bring a baby into a world when it is not wanted?
People will continue to have get illegal abortions, obviously not safe, endangering THEIR own lives and the babies.
if abortions were illegal, thousands of women would still get it, however it will just be unsanitary and dangerous. Lets regress you guys, go back to the 50s. Make it unsafe for women to have control in their lives.
Good thinking.

Haliwea Bound... NO ****.
But everytime you have sex, do you plan to have a baby?
Therefore... accidental.
And yeah... some people may slip up and not wear a condom or forget their birth control, or get really drunk.
But everytime somebody makes a mistake do we have to punish them in such a life-chaning way?

I love the point you are making. I can only imagaine how many women would be going to unsanitary places to receive abortions by unlicensed people and possibly getting mangeled or even die due to it. There are also many women out there who would try to give themselves a misscarriage because they think it would turn out okay, when they end up causing harm to themselves instead.
Yea, maybe people shouldn't have sex if they don't want children, but that is a ridiculous argument because people of all ages will do it wether they want children or not.
The choice is for the woman only, not pro-lifers who don't know a thing about the person in question.

How old are you? "Why bring a baby into a world when it is not wanted?" You mean not wanted by you, the mother. There are thousands of couples looking to adopt, so the child is wanted. No one can get pregnant by accident. That would be like, "oh just slip that thing in while I'm not looking, okay". Come on, grow up and take responsibility for your actions! I also don't agree with the its my body, its my choice argument. If its your body and your choice then I shouldn't have to pay child support if you do decide to keep the child. Your body, your choice when you want to abort, but its our child when your going to keep it, how convenient. All I'm saying is that men should have an equal say in abortion.

I thought the birth control pill, IUD's, and other devices were supposed to stop unwanted pregnancy. Being drunk is not an excuse for not using protection. I have gone 40+ years in my life and enjoying sex without having any unplanned pregnancies with my partners.
Abortions is basically the killing of innocent children. If this is a legal form of killing, why don't we have mercy killings for the old people who don't want to live in nursing homes or allow people to do assisted suicide? To use the abortion line - Its their body, their choice. So if an old person wants to die or someone wants to commit suicide, why not let Jack Kevorkian help them out?
Time Magazine did a story on abortion that I read yesterday at the dentist office 1.5% of all abortions are rape related. 98.5% were because "a baby would change my life" or "I don't want kids".
Sex education in the public schools obviously doesn't work because it is supposed to teach the kids how not to get pregnant while enjoying the fruits of their bodies.
I know couples who are spending in excess of $10,000 to try to have a baby that would be more than happy to adopt the child that was aborted. So why can't those who want a baby buy the child from the mother? That would be a more legitimate way to do things than just killing the kids because it is convenient to do so. This would be a win win situation for everyone. The mother gets $10K and the couple gets the baby.

We will "never" know how many abortions were in times past. Today it can be reasonably tracked. People are the same, always will be. With or without laws choices are made daily for good and bad. EDUCATION is the answer, we must take the first responsibility to teach responsibility- that is where we fail.

We also know that women ultimately have the say so when it comes to sex. There is this think called birth control. Or making the man wear a condom. Or better yet, just keep your legs closed. I don't have a problem with women getting abortions if they have been raped or something like that which is beyond their control. But i do have a problem with women getting abortions because of stupidity. If you make a mistake you should suffer the consequences. Whatever happened to that term "Consequences for your actions"? It's sad to say that this term is fading away in this country.

You have to admit that during that dark time when abortions were illegal the legs did not get spread as often and/or more care was taken to not get into the pregnancy state at all. While I do not want to return to the dark ages of the back ally abortions we do need to focus on more prevention.

Just because people will continue to do it make it LEGAL...ok..people using your argument.....people continue to commit murder and people continue to do drugs...DO YOU WANT THOSE LEGAL TOO?
Back in the 50s unwed pregnancy was a very embarrassing thing with tremendous social implications..now a days some women seem to think it is a badge of honor
Just because people will still do it is not a valid argument...It should be made ILLEGAL except in court authorized cases of Rape...Incest..and Physical life peril of the mother...which is only about 2% of the cases.
Getting "pregnant by accident" and having the availability of an abortion is one of the things that leads the teens and others to IRRESPONSIBLE sex....If you are going to engage in the act..TAKE PRECAUTIONS>>>>OR>>>TAKE RESPONSIBILITY....DO NOT TAKE A LIFE

If I got drunk and killed myself in a car accident, woudl people feel as sorry for as a woman having an abortion illegally and dying? Why not. Well all know the dangers of things we do.

You shouldn't get yourself into a situation where a normally healthy fetus must be aborted just because you goofed and can't afford to take care of it. You should think of that stuff before you drop your britches. But I also realize that if there weren't safe places to go to have it done you would be doing in an alley with a coat hanger.

The purpose of legislation is to define justice, not to guarantee it. Lots of legislation gets passed that doesn't completely succeed at their goals, but that doesn't mean that the legislation should never have been passed in the first place.
