i would just call animal controll if you see them loose. you can carry a stick or something to protect yourself....which you should do to protect from people as well.

This is the kind of behavior that you should nip in the bud at once. You need to teach that little whipper snapper to "leave it". To do that, give the dog a quick tug and lead him away from the object of interest. Another thing you need to teach him is to "drop it". That is going to be harder to do because he has already growled at you before for trying to take something from him. Is he this way around food at home? How does he act when you go to pick up his food dish? How does he act around you while he is eating? To teach him to "drop it", have a treat on hand. Make sure he sees the treat. He will want that treat, so make him work for it. In other words, he has to drop what he has in his mouth to get the treat from you, and be sure that he does not go back to what he had to drop. Keep his leash short when you walk him. You have to be firm with him. Last of all, it is perfectly natural for your dog to stick his nose on the ground. All dogs do this to learn what other animals have been around. You should be able to keep him away from garbage considering that he is smaller than you. Keep your eyes open for garbage, and if you see any go on the other side away from it. Don't let him pull you over to it. If he tries, give him a quick pull and tell him no. You have to be alpha.

Step 1 - Report the security guards.
Carry a hockey stick or similar with you if necessary until the problem is dealt with.
Report the incidents to the police or local council immediately!

If you are young and live with your parents have them do something about this. Report to school authorities, even tho the dogs aren't their responsibility they are a dangerous hazard to their students. Call Animal Control. Good Luck

that sounds scary. maybe buy some pepper spray or something similar just in case they want to attack you. Or go to a petstore and ask what kind of product there is.
Better safe than sorry!

you should look into places where you can get dog spray. you spay it in the direction of the dog and it stings the eyes and nose so that they back off. it's like pepper spray for dogs.
