engage in sexual intercourse when a woman is on her period?
I have heard that some couples do have sex when a woman is on her period. (Using a condom, obviously)

But to me, it just sounds weird.
Is that common?
Or does everyone think like I do?

Sex - during periods
"Is it harmful to have sex during a period?"

Sex during a period is really a matter of culture (in some cultures menstruation is considered 'unclean') and personal taste.
Menstrual fluid consists of blood and tissue from the lining of the uterus (womb), with some of the normal 'friendly' bacteria from the vagina. It contains nothing dirty or harmful, so contact with menstrual fluid will not cause irritation of the penis or any other problems.
Sex at this time will not harm the woman. The menstrual fluid seeps out of the normal small opening in the cervix (see Genital Warts and Lumps on the Genitals). This hole does not become any larger during a period, so there is no need to worry that the penis might poke up into the uterus.
The period is the least fertile time of the woman's cycle, so it is one of the safest times for avoiding pregnancy. However, it is possible to conceive at this time - sperm can live for 3 days, and ovulation could occur earlier than usual, so it might be possible for the sperm to meet up with an egg. To be safe, use contraception.

Remember to remove a tampon beforehand, otherwise it might become pushed up into a corner of the vagina during sex, and then forgotten.

It's not dangerous to do as long as the couple are safe. If not using a condom, it's important that each partner have been cleared of all STD's--which should be common sense for anyone having sex w/o a condom. It's just messy.

i think theres no problem with that the only thing is that YES u can get pregnant even if u are on your period and not using a condom. its always safer to use a condom. but it does feel better when u are on your period. its just not a good idea to have the lights on. its really disgusting for both

I don't think it's unhealthy, and actually, some guys enjoy the squishy feel without a condom. (Uck.) And having sex can actually alleviate severe period cramps. My recommendation is to use a dark colored towel, a couple layers of it under you, stay on bottom, and don't have the lights on. Trust me, he doesn't want to see it.

It is fine to have sex when you have your period and no you do not need to use a condom unless you are not married and practicing safe sex. Orgasm can often help with cramps.

It does not hurt anything. And you don't have to use a condom if you are married and neither of you is having sex with anyone else. It is common.

every couple is different and every woman's period is different. Some men don't mind the mess of a period and other do it just depends on the couple, in the shower there's no mess.

Hello!

My girlfriend & I have often contemplated the situation. Luckily we both have agreed that we will not have sex while she is on her "period". Although there isn't anything that can be said about having sex while the female is on her period, I beleive that it is unhygenic; even if you do use a condom.

Regards,
Vinay

When on your period, i heard, it is the hardest time to get pregnant. People like to do it during that time cuz extra lube and tends to feel better for the lady due to the sensitivity of feeling. My fiancee and i have not tried that but i guess its what the YOU and the man feel about it.
