i bought a new LG DVD writer it is reading and writing CD's and reading DVD's but not writing DVD's

the drive is also not accesible

DVD writers are sometimes picky about the brand of DVD they write to. I know very few people that have problems with Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DVDs. Most cheapers discs give burners trouble. Make sure your Firmware is up to date and that you are trying to burn the right type of discs. Since you did not mention the model # of the burner I can not tell you if it need DVD-Rs, DVD+Rs or it burns both.
