i think white people get tans b/c they like color to their skin. i have a lot of whit people over the years tell me they like my skin color. plus my best friend who is white never gets a tan and when we were in high school other white people use to ask me was she sick b/c she was so pale, so maybe it looks sickly to be pale, i guess.

Not all of us do, some of us just burn. Since the 1920's, a tan has been a sign of wealth since a wealthy person had so much money that s/he could pay someone else to do the work and s/he could spend the time playing outdoor sports like tennis. Prior to this time period, a tan was considered part of the lower class who had to work outside, doing hard labor, to earn a living.

Not all of them do, first of all. Usually the ones who get a tan are the ones who live in warmer climates because their skin naturally adapts to it. Other times its because they often are not "pure" white. Take a lot of the southern meditteraneas, some greeks, sicilians, and some italians. They are close to Africa, just as the middle easterners are, so of course with intermarriages and integration of course skin color naturally adapts to being darker. Many Italians, mainly Sicilians, have black from down the line, just as many carribean latinos (Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, for example...) do. Also could be because a lot of white people have native american in them too, least here in America. As for pure, pure whites, like from northern europe, most of them get sunburn.

So I don't get a sunburn, spring starts in just a couple of days and I enjoy doing outdoor things.

because i like darker skin and mine is too pale also since i tan you dont see as many veins in my skin
