I have a DNS Server on an AS-400 machine. I created a Forward lookup zone to point to that server as a secondary DNS. There are some entry's that over lap in the Secondary and the Primary DNS. Is this going to be a problem?

Thanks

Well ideally the entries in both a primary and secondary DNS will match exactly.

The idea is to supply redundant DNS services.

If the primary is not reachable the secondary is available. You need to set the timings in your secondary on how often it needs to update to your primary so that all the entries stay fairly close to the same. In other words if you update your Win2003 with a new domain you want the secondary to get that update soon. Most of the time once an hour is ok unless you are adding alot of new domains.

If you have local zones that are identical but are not the same machine (the A address for them is not identical) you will have all sorts of issues.
