African Violet: Easy, non-stop flowering, pretty leaves when not in flower. Always water from the bottom.

Dendrobium Orchid: Some people prefer the Phaleonopsis, but I have a miniature dendrobium that has been flowering non-stop for 7 years. Currently has 3 stalks of flowers. Love it!

Rex Begonia: Never had one, but love the leaves. In general, begonias are very easy.

Purple Passion ( Gynura aurantiaca:) Grow these for the purple fuzz on the leaves. Rarely flower unless you fertilize with african violet or orchid fertilizer (learned that from experience.) Very easy to care for. Naturally grows as a vine, so keep pinching back to keep it bushy, or do waht I do, cut off the top, and stick in soil to make lots more plants!

Kalanchoe Tomentosa: Just got this one a few months ago, and is very easy to care for. Really love the fuzzy leaves, and easy to root too!

Pencil Cactus: Always loved the texture of this one.

Spider Plant: Gotta love the babies!

P.S. I love ivy too, but always had a problem with spider mites on ivy, and have a major problem using insecticides, so I avoid growing ivy. Doesn't seem to like the dry house either.
P.S.S. When buying houseplants, assume that they have been sprayed with some insectide before arriving at the store.

Airplane plant or spider plant,English Ivy or both good for the air in your house they naturally help maintain. Ficus is hardy and Peace Lilly or Easter Lilly and of course good old fashion Ivy cant kill it keep it cut back till you get if full enough and put the cutting down in the soil shape however you want. Be nice to your plants feed water and ever so often secet throw some good potting soil on them. Some of my houseplants are as big as me. I love them alive and well!

Yucca
Draconian
Aloe Vera
Umbrella Plant
Bonsai

I like the look off both the Yucca and Draconian, the Aloe Vera is a great plant with healing properties, the umbrella plant can grow big and tall looks great in a hall or corner, and the bonsai will keep you busy with trimming etc,

I hope this is what you wanted!

I would select aloe vera-needs sun but requires very little watering. You can use the gel inside the plant if you get a burn or put it on a cut to make it heal quicker. Lucky bamboo--you can keep it in just water and indirect light to hardly any light and it will grow great- no maintenance. Mother-in-law tongue-- Grows anywhere in the house and is low maintenance and hard to kill, likes all types of lighting Spider plants for hanging-- very easy to grow and the little baby offspring on the ends can be replanted to make additional plants to share.

African Violets (very pretty and bloom most of the time, available in many colors too)

Christmas Cactus (low maintenance, mine always bloom more than 3 waves per year in Dec-Mar, just remember they like to be kept root bound and need cool temperature between 55-70 degree to bloom, perfect for unheated room inside)

Peace Lily (easy to grow and good for low light area indoor)

Amaryllis (pretty flowers and try to get the dwarf ones less than 24" tall cause easier to handle the leaves)

Ivy (perfect for low light area too and low maintenance)

I would go for climbers and trailers, like Wandering Jew or Ivy, or sweetheart plants because I like the look of them. Only problem is dusting, so I tend to give them a shower in the bath every few weeks!
Cactus are good too because they need very little attention. And their flowers are gorgeous.
