My internal reaction is "I am not a Thomas Guide. Go find a gas station." I feel this way from experience- you give these dolts who can read maps directions, and you are always either too simple/not enough info or too detailed/complicated. AND THEY BLAME YOU FOR NOT FOLLOWING ALONG! It is a thankless, frustrating pain in the neck...

So Arturo now just says he isnt from around the area, sorry!

I do... I live in NYC, and work in Manhattan so I get it all the time. Just to screw with them I always give them wrong directions.

I do not mind. Personally, I am terrible when it comes to reading maps - all those squiggly lines, and reds, blues, greens, and yellows running all over the page across each other. Then the street names are like font size six and you have to refer to the index in the back of the book, and flip back and find the tiny little dot on the map where you are supposedly currently positioned. I mean… good grief. My eyes begin to hurt. Therefore, if I know how to get somewhere, I do not mind sharing my knowledge, besides, I would like the same help. Especially if I am a visitor in a strange new place, and do not know my way around there.

I like it, I feel that I must seem like I know where i'm going or that I'm knowledgeable. So few gas station attendants actually know their surroundings. They mostly just know how to get from their house to work. I do agree that it can be frustrating when people don't get it.
