On a scale of 1-10 (ten-being they completely determine our experience) (one-being, they have no effect at all).

10! Less than 2 years ago I was homeless. In spite of my situation, I always held on to the knowledge that things would get better. Complete strangers extended themselves to me in amazing ways. I am absolutely sure they could see my spirit. I believe it was my determination that got me to a life of comfort.

I think that totally depends on the person...

I do however believe that our thoughts are capable of having enough power to determine our experiences to the utmost. So I guess my answers should be 10...

It's a choice though...every things a choice.

9 - because our thought effect everything we do, even though our thoughts can be effect by the actions and experiences of others and ourselves they still determine the outcome of every life experience and situation - very seldomly we act on pure urge and instinct. I think this is because we are so jaded by our life's in this time.

Well since decisions are thoughts, then I'd guess 10. Though our experience is partly based on our emotions of the time, it's mostly based on input determined by decisions and their outcomes.

10 for thoughts determining our experience and
10 for experience determining our thoughts

It is a continuum of living. You cannot separate the two.

I remember a little saying from some time back that went as such:

Be mindful of your thoughts, for they will become your words.
Be mindfull of your words, for they will become your actions.
Be mindful of your actions, for they will affect your life.

Based on that simple logic, I'd say that our thoughts play a heavy role in life experiences. Hence, about an 8.

It's about 7. Our thoughts affect our experiences even when we don't notice.
