How do I remove 2-sided tape from carpet???

We put 2-sided tape on our carpet to help keep an area rug in place. A long period of time has passed and I can't get the tape to come off the carpet. Lesson learned!!! I HAVE TO remove it.
Any suggestions???

Try using water to wash off the adhesive and later use a hair dryer to dry the wet rug n carpet.

WD-40. it works great to remove all kinds of sticky.
