Thats the first question I ever asked on here and the answer is that you can't.

I shaved down the dyed bits with a razor blade and shaved some bits from a hidden area then superglued them over the patch. It took ages but worked a treat!

Try what carpet experts suggest: Immediately blot dye up with white paper towels. Then, mix 1/4 teaspoon mild hand dish-washing detergent with one cup lukewarm water. (Don't use a stronger concentration, or laundry or automatic dish detergent, which could damage the carpet further.) Dip a white cloth in the mixture and dab stain from the outside in. Let set a minute or so, then blot again. You may have to repeat several times. Have patience. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water, then blot dry with a clean cloth.

A last resort if small spots (like yours) don't budge: Lighten them with three percent hydrogen peroxide, dabbed on with a cotton swab. Let dry 24 hours. If needed, repeat. Fill in with a permanent felt-tip fabric marker that matches carpet colour. (Mark a little bit at a time.) It may not look perfect, but it beats buying a new carpet!

I think your only option is using something so strong, it may change the color of the carpet. But if it made it a lighter stain, not so dark as the hair dye, it may be not as noticeable and look better.
I'd try oxi-clean, that works very well but it may not on hair dye. If that didn't work, i'd probably try something really strong like rubbing alcohol or peroxide. It may lighten it and make it less horrid to look at for you.

I have pale green carpet in my bedroom. I got Cinnaberry coloring right in the middle of the floor, about the size of a quarter.

Here's what I tried:

1. wet vaccuum (didn't do anything, smeared it)
2. lemon juice (helped a little)
3. vinegar (helped a little)
4. Oxyclean (did a world of good, but still a stain)
5. hairspray (did nothing)
6. peroxide (did nothing)

Overall the Oxyclean did the best. Also, the longer you let it sit, the worse it will be to get it out!

Other than harsh chemicals or vanish what about an anti-dandruff shampoo?

On the telephone instructions for hair emergencies (off the hair dye packet) it says that anti-dandruff shampoo helps break down the colour if you've over done it.

I know it sounds ridiculous but I'm presuming you've tried everything else-and the worst that can happen is nothing, eh?

You can try hydrogen peroxide, but be very careful! Keep a VERY close eye on it and the minute it lifts, saturate it in water to stop the oxidation process. I would not do this on darker carpet. If the carpet is dark, you might be stuck with it. Good luck!

You are goosed I am afraid. I have tried everything to get it out of my bathroom carpet with no luck. I even managed to get it up the wallpaper - don't ask me how but that stuff is a nightmare to remove. Good Luck.

Theres stuff called 'stain devil' which you can get from supermarkets I got some from tesco when i got red gloss paint on my cream carpet and it came out! they have different ones for all kinds of stain. Alternatively 'vanish' is quite good for stains too.

i have seen stuff that is supposed to strip bad a colour job from hair, maybe that would work but be careful if it is a wool carpet because any kind of bleach will turn it brown.

Yesterday I had my hair colored and the gal had this bottle of stain remover that she used on my skin (around my forehead) to get all the color off. I think she even used it on my shirt one time. You might want to call the beauty salon and ask them.
