I have been sick lately and I have been feeling so much pain in my stomache and back, but I also just had the IUD inserted four days ago, so I assumed the pain was due to the IUD settling in or something. But after a day of no pain at all, today the pain is back and now I have bloody stool. And it is very black. Could this be food poisoning or something? I can't imagine what I couldn've eaten to cause that though. Has this ever happened to you before? What was it?

A black stool usually means that there is blood coming from the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This includes the esophagus, stomach, or first part of the small intestine. Stomach ulcers caused by ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin are common causes of upper GI bleeding. Consuming black licorice, lead, iron pills, bismuth medicines like Pepto-Bismol, or blueberries can also cause black stools. Black stools can also be caused by gastritis, esophageal varices, Mallory-Weiss tear (a tear in the esophagus from violent vomiting), trauma or foreign body, bowel ischemia (a lack of proper blood flow to the intestines), and vascular malformation. If it is not from something you ingested, please go see a doctor to determine what the exact cause may be.

The color could be of many reasons..medication, constipattion so when going and if bloody a little u may have cause a liitle sore. If its really bad, red water etc. I would seek the hospital/dr. Its not food poisoning, but it may very well be from medications. I fserious, seek help. THe pains may just be a virus you have, but I owuld check into that too. IUD can cause cramping which we all know is front and back...have warm baths or heating pads to help. take care

If the food was red it may not be blood. Just the food color. Also if it is blood it may be hemorrhoids bleeding. also if it burns coming out it may be nothing. If you see blood in any other stools you need to see a doc. Maybe ask one anyway. just to be safe.

GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!! This is not food poisoning. It sounds like something else. You need medical treatment. Always go to the doctor if there's blood in your stool. That is never normal.

You need yo go to the E.R to be examined there are some G.I. disorders in which certain foods can cause your bowel to bleed but this is not something to shrug of as bad food. You could be loosing more blood than you think!

It's not necessarily caused by food. You could have an ulcer. Please see your doctor as soon as possible. It may be something that can be healed easily but left unattended it could get worse. You may even need a blood transfusion if the bleeding has been that severe.

It sounds like you have internal bleeding somewhere in you digestive tract. Your stool is probably black from the blood. My friend had this and it was a bleeding ulcer. It can be serious so please go to your doctor.
