Does anyone know of any good paint places, I want to paint my 2001 Honda Civic from a silver to more of a dark silver/gray color? Anyone know prices for MAACO?

I had a Corolla GTS done there about 10 years ago. The paint jopb lasted the life of the car, which just went off to the salvage yard last year. They did a great job and the colour was a perfect match to the factory colour - no difference when you opened the door jambs. Also, they didn't get overspray o anything - the car was masked very well. My next paint job will be done by them too.

I would suggest against doing it if there is nothing wrong with the paint physically. I had a car repainted at Earl Scheib (same kind of work as MAACO) and the paint was so thin, it came right off when I leaf was stuck on the car ( long after it supposedly cured) The car did look much better though, because the old paint was just ugly.

MAACO and Earl Scheib only paint over the old paint, they don't strip it off. But a professional paint job will cost a few thousand dollars to be done right. MAACO and Scheibs are only a few hundred. If you really like the car, get it done professionally. If the car is ugly (peeling paint, rusty, faded, oxidized) and you just want it too look better for a while or to sell it, go to MAACO.

Both Earl Scheib and MAACO are franchise operations, so maybe I had a bad franchisee do my car and that's the reason the paint started to flake off.

Depends on what their specials are. I know here in IL they run $299 specials. The best thing to so is get an estimate. If there isnt any body work to do it should be under $500.

Maaco painted my 1978 Trans Am 8 years ago, and it still looks great!! I think I painted about $400, and they did some body work.
