try this, put a pot on to boil with water and vinegar once the pot starts to boil turn down the gas and leave the pot simmer. Just remember to keep filling the pot with water so it does´t burn dry . Do this for as long as you can and this should rid the smell

I have a prooven answer. Go to QVC.com or call 1-800-345-1515 and ask for X-O by Don Aslett --it is an odor Neutralizer. It costs $20 for 32 oz concentrate. You mix with equal parts water and spray just a few sprays and it will neutralize the smell (Not cover the smell like most products) This product can be used on all smelly things: pets, fire, fish, shoes, sneakers, smoke, etc. It lasts a very long time and totally eliminates the smell whether new or old. It is non-toxic. Totally worth the cost and a must in every household.

Odoban is pretty good. But, for getting rid of odors - Better idea - Someone else mentioned charcoal. I have the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. Just place some of them around problem area. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Someone else even said available in England at Lakeland. Definitely worth trying

Bicarbonate of soda - use to wipe down surfaces, leave a cup or two with a spoonful in various places to absorb odours.
Onion - half or a thick slice or two on a saucer or plate to absorb odours.
You will probably find the smell is lingering in curtains, carpets, furnishings etc. If all else fails you could try Febreze.
I've had similar problems when I've bought whole fish and prepared for eating or freezing and found the bicarb and onion worked overnight, followed by a good airing.

Use one of these gadets - they are flippin AAmaazing----you may have seen the wierd metal stones you rub on your hands and they remove all smells - this is a giant version you put in the home and it gets rid of smoke, doggy smells - *fish* smells etc - at 16 quid its a bargain because if you look after a villa this would pay for itself fast - if you get clients who smoke for instance this would kill that smell so the villa is fresh for the next clients.

You could always try joss sticks. They seem to be a pretty good deodoriser and get rid of tobacco smells which tend to be difficult to remove, so they might work with fish.

Open the windows and then get a deodoriser that plugs into an electric socket which will work on quietly.
