Is there another Ohio State, so the Buckeyes have to clarify which school they're talking about? Or, is this just some stupid made-up school pride thing like Miami's "THE U". It makes no sense, please shed some light on this...

There is no other ohio state university. I can't stand the suckeyes. They just want to feel different and apart from everybody else. They already should though because they graduate the lowest amount of basketball players over any other team in the NCAA tournament. They also have been known to have extremely easy academic requirements. They just wish they were a real school like U of M! Go Blue!!!

It's part of the legal thing between THE Ohio State University and Ohio University. (OSU won't lose to Xavier)
