either the sound card is loose inside the computer or your driver was altered (download the newest set) or maybe there is a conflict from a newly installed component.

either your sound drivers are damaged somehow or you have the same problem that my mom had a few days ago. My mom's sound was not muted, but there still was no sound. Try going to the volume control panel by double clicking on the speaker icon on the taskbar. if any of the sliders on this panel are at the bottom, you won't hear anything. Just move them up and it should work.

If that does not work go to
http://support.dell.com/
or http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?dlc=en&lc=en&cc=us, or http://support.gateway.com/support/default.asp
or support.(your computer's company website name here).com.
Search for audio drivers once you do whatever it says to do and you put your info in. Download the driver for your computer and install it. Restart your computer and your sound should work. That should fix your problem.

Make sure your monitors audio input is plugged into the right slot in your computer (probably in a green outlet called "Front"). Next, make sure nothing is muted, and that your front speakers are on. Also your sound card may be having problems. ?Make sure it's fastend to the computer properly. If it still doesn't work, i don't know.

Click START
Click Control Panel
Click on System
Click on Hardware
Click on Device Manager
Click on the + by Sound, video, game Contollers

*IF* you see any Yellow & Black ! point or Red X REMOVEE them

Shutdown your computer, NOT RESTART

Wait at least 2 minutes then restart computer

Windows SHOULD find and REinstall the drivers

Note: Even IF you don't see the above mentioned ! or X, just remove the sound card drivers anyway, then do the Shutdown procedure

Have you checked the sound on your computer? (Start--Programs--Accessories--Entertainment--Volume Control). I've also found if I've had Windows Media or iTunes open and I turn the sound way down in one of those programs that it affects the sound output on my computer, so you might want to check that as well.

Have you expanded the icons at the right side on the bar? There is a speaker icon there.
if you double click on it, (if you haven't done this already) you can check if all settings are correct!

Try it.

If this was the solution, let me know please.
