It may be because you have been hurt in the past and are afraid to "give" yourself in friendship. Had a similar problem and would date until the girl really liked me and then I would break it off. This was due to being hurt by a girl in the past and guess that I was Trying to get back at all women. I grew up and realized that I was becoming "not a nice person" so I forced myself not to do that. Will be married 22 years this August. Examine your feeling and decide if you are trying to retaliate for a past hurt.
