Yep, they certainly can change, but it's quite rare. Especially seen in pet shop varieties that contain more than one color. Most "serious" bettas ( one's from good lines or breeds) will not have the genetics for more than one color and therefore can't change. Several factors can cause this to happen including age and diet. Nothing to worry about, just enjoy your fish.

I've had it happen before, but not usually a dramatic change.
I think it depends a lot on the age of the fish (really young) and their diet.
As long as the fish is happy, eating, and blowing bubbles I don't think it anything to worry about.
Good luck

i've got had it ensue before than, even in spite of the shown fact that no longer maximum regularly a dramatic distinction. I evaluate it relies upon plenty on the age of the fish (extremely youthful) and their nutrition. As long because of the fact the fish is comfortable, eating, and blowing bubbles i do no longer evaluate it despite to worry approximately. stable fulfillment E.

When you say "change colour" do you mean like from orange to blue? OR do you mean from orange to darker orange or to lighter orange? If it changes colour from 1 shade of colour to a other totally different shade, it might be possible but i have never seen it happen before (maybe your betta's original colour was painted on). But if your betta is orange, and it turns into a darker orange or lighter orange, then it's stress.

They may changes colors as they age, but they won't be able to change their colors as a squid could, every second.
