Nope. What it is planning to do is replace those outdated nuclear arsenal with a new one.

With US, France, German, Israel, China, India, Russia and Pakistan having nuclear, why should UK abolish???

And don't forget North Koreans and Iranians are trying to acquire them. DO u want to be left behind??? What happens if UK is attacked by the North Koreans with nuclear weapon???? Does it want to end up like Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the world war where thousand died.

UK should abolish if ONLY all the other countries abandones their nuclear weapons.

The UK have its Nuclear Arsenal as it acts as a deterrent. It has worked superbly since the trident missiles were first put on the Royal Navy's submarines back in the 90's. If we don't have this deterrent i believe we'd be sitting ducks. The entire world know that the UK has a Submarine at sea 24/7 365 days a year with the ability to fire a nuclear missile within 10mins that's whats kept us safe so far. Eliminate that deterrent ourselves then are easy targets to be eliminated ourselves.

That is up to the UK goverment in my opinion. Its like saying hey everyone i have dozens of cookies in the kitchen. Does anyone care? I mean its an asset to them to have such a high power warfare and its for the best interests in THEIR defense of the THEIR country. So what if Korea has nuclear missles, we should just be prepared to protect and watch whatever they launch off. We cant go next door and say oh you better get rid of those cookies or the cops will get you. What cops? its country versus country and who ever has the smarts and protection will win it and Korea is simply just defending themselves. Nobody stopped us from testing our missles back in the cold war or even the atomic bomb. Why should we even be telling them let alone "suggesting" you better get rid of your nuclear arsenal. We have our own big deal. It just seems that our U.S. gov't is just getting jealous that we have something but other countries are catching up to us fast and we cant go anywhere else cuz we've done all we can really.

It should, and it should also close down Sellafield and all nuclear power stations. How can they tell other nations not to develop nuclear power when they have their own nuclear weapons and power stations. If Britain has a nuclear bomb Israel then why not a country that feels threatened by the nations that has them. A question that no one has asked is, Does the occupiers in Iraq have nuclear weapons on Iraqi soil today.

No the UK is a super power. They know when and when not to use a nuke. They are just like the US when it comes to their nuclear arsenal. It's better to have them and not need them rather that not have them and need them.

Hell no! They are a security council member and have an obligation to uphold the deterent. It's not like any of us will ever use these things again, that is the only farse. We have developed beyond the ability to use our own super weapons. It is the poeple who have nothing to lose or don't value what would be lost who would use them in the future, ie. groups, individuals, etc. Without them who knows how geopolitics would change.
