The best schools are MIT, UC-Berkeley, Stanford and Cal Tech. If you can get into one of these schools -- then go to it.

They are tough to get into -- but there are plenty of other schools that are good. Computer Science programs are like Engineering Programs, where many of the better state schools have programs that are as good or better than the Ivy League schools (as is evidenced by Berkeley's place on the above list). Other great State schools to consider are Georgia Tech or any of the schools in the Big Ten conference.

The schools in the US with the best reputation for their computer-related degrees are (no particular order):

-Massachusetts Institute of Technology
-Cal Tech
-Georgia Tech
-Carnegie Mellon
-Olin College of Engineering
-Cooper Union
-Rose Hulman Institute of Tech
-Harvey Mudd
-Rensellaer Polytechnic
-U Cal Berkeley
-Stanford
-U Illinois Urbana Champaign

And then there are schools that are maybe a step down from those, but still with very good reputations:

-Worcester Polytechnic Inst
-Boston University
-Purdue
-U Michigan
-Cornell
-U Southern California
-Columbia
-U California Los Angeles
-U Texas

As you can see, there are a lot of good programs out there! And possibly add your own state college system. The computer science degrees at most of the reputable state universities tend to be of good quality, and of good value. So if you live in, say, Massachusetts, check out the schools above, but don't forget UMass Amherst.

In Canada, the best are at:

-U Toronto
-U Waterloo

All of these schools have websites. If you simply type "Stanford" into Yahoo, for example, you'll get it.
