I am originally from N.Y. and have lived in GA for 11yrs. looking to relocate now for my children's sake. Overcrowding is a major issue happening in my area. I was curious how VA is.

I have to say I'm pretty partial to Virginia since I was born and raised there. (I've lived all over since, including Ohio, Michigan, Texas and currently, in Georgia.) By far I have to say Virginia is my favorite. No matter where you go in the state whether it's the heavily wooded, slightly less populated western/south western side, or the more metropolitan, highly populated eastern side, it's still beautiful and the people are still friendly. If you're considering moving to Northern Virginia (up by DC) I'd think again, unless that's where your job is transferring you. The traffic is horrific and the people up in that area are mostly transplants from all over the country. They don't have the "southern charm" that native Virginians have.

I love Virginia and miss it terribly.

Which part of VA? Norther VA (just outside of DC) or any other part? They're like night and day. You'll find DC suburbs a lot like NY suburbs - soccer moms, huge houses, etc. 99% of the rest of the state will remind you of "Deliverance."

Stay out of the major cities and you will be fine. Try any town near interstate 81.
