It's illegal to sell medical drugs without a doctor's prescription. That's what makes it illegal on the internet. Natural treatments are not controlled by the American medical association and that's why they can be sold on the internet.

If the product is classified as a prescription drug it can only be sold to US citizens living in the US by obtaining a prescription from a licensed health care practitioner. Selling the product without a prescription is technically called practicing medicine without a license and is a felony.

If the medication is not by prescription, such as an over the counter drug (Aspirin) or a dietary supplement (Herbs and vitamins) or is a homeopathic remedy (considered to be an over the counter drug in most cases) no prescription is necessary and therefore can be sold by anyone to anyone.

The rules are a little tricky though. If the dietary supplement is positioned to cure a disease, under US law (21CFR) it becomes a drug and therefore requires a physician's prescription.
