i just bought a new mother board but it says certified by ATI, does that mean it only works with ATI video cards? i bought a nvidia card :(

Your nvidia card should work just fine as long as the "socket" AGP etc is the same.

You MB manf. is just making a statement that they worked with ATI to assure the ATI cards all worked. That doesnt mean that is the ONLY card that will.

That's a question you'd ask before you buy, good luck on your build. Your going to need it.

But to answer your question, you can use nvidia graphic card as long as its the bus type your mobo supports (AGP, PCIe). ATI certified is there way of saying "it works better with ATI graphic cards"
(but not necessarily true).

The onyl cnosideration abot a video card you should be concerned wit is what TYPE of Vided CARD SLOT your motherboard supports.

Since you just got the motherbaord, it should be either AGP or PCI-e (PCI-Express) ((NOT the old PCI standard))

Brand doesn't matter. All that matters is that it is the right kind of connection (AGP, PCI-E, etc). If the card fits in the slot, you're good.

if your video card is AGP and you've got an AGP slot it'll fit and work the same applies if your video card is PCI express and you have a PCI express slot

no its not necessary bec its just the mother board not the slot and it will support any type of card

all that maters is that it fits. if it fits your fine. personaly i like nvidia. the only problem might be drivers. so other than that have fun with your video card
