After 4 kids, my wife asked me to let her answer this...
Warm baths, light R&B music and sugar/caffeine -free hot cocoa. It sounds ridiculous but true. It calms the baby (and yourself) and keeps the baby from "wanting out" We've done it in my family for years and it always works! Also go easy on caffeine... and congratulations!

There's not really a way to avoid labor. When it happens,it happens. The good thing is that you should have another couple of weeks before the baby comes. If it's your first, they are typically late, so you probably don't have anything to worry about.
Good luck!

Sorry girl, there's no way to keep that baby from making an aperance once he/she decides to. I understand wanting to wait for family to be in from out of town, but it will be just fine if the baby decides to come. It will be more intamate for your husband , baby and you. Your mother in law will be on the back burner when the baby gets here and you get one look into that face anyhow.
Good luck!!! You're almost there!!!!

Once your body starts producing pitocin and contractions start there is nothing you can do. Your doctor isn't going to try to stop them since you are full term. Your baby is going to come when he/she is ready. But you can go into labor 2 weeks before or two weeks after your due date. Congrats

If there were to be a medical reason for delaying labor, the doctors could give you an IV with a drug that inhibits labor. However, I doubt they will give it to you without a medical reason, like if your baby would be being born premature.

Actually, I think cats are the only known species that can delay birth and even stop birth when danger is near. Wonder how they do that.
In humans, I do not think we can do anything. If its your first child it may naturally be late. Avoiding those things can help and also, don't stress or do anything but relax.

You won't delay it unless the doctor gives you meds to help to keep it from delivering and that isn't a possibility unless they don't think it is viable yet. When the baby is ready to come out..it is coming out.

When the baby wants to come, the baby will come. There is no way to avoid it. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will come on it's due date. Good luck! :)
