Why do they use the terms ignorant and gay when they throw insults?

From what I gather, those would be compliments any other time to them?

It's the same logic that they use when they call illegal immigrants "undocumented immigrants" most of the time but change it to "illegal immigrants" when a Republican is somehow caught up in the mix.

A good example is the Boston Globe. Most of the time the Globe calls them "Immigrants", but when (Republican) Gov. Romney's lawncare company was found to have illegal workers on staff, the Globe had "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT" headline stories for about a week.....

Ignorance is generally the greatest slander which can be imposed on anyone. If you can paint someone as ignorant then you can just as easily discount any argument they might make against any cause you support. This tactic is not used exclusively by liberals, I see more than a fair amount of the same from conservatives.

Other statements like calling someone gay, pedophile, fascist, etc. are all used by the left because of right wing doctrine. Many on the left view all conservatives as intolerant right wing religious fanatics. The fact that this is not true by any stretch of the imagination is of little consequence. They think that by using these epithets that they are striking at the heart of hypocrisy. The problem is that while the right does claim to support family values and are against gay marriage and some of these things if true would not support such a belief, the left still claims to be more tolerant in general. Therefore making statements like this are indications of their own hypocrisy.

In the end it is all just politics and should be largely ignored as the product of those who cannot debate the facts and must instead resort to character assassination.

Because there are so many "rules" in the political correctness crowd, they are bound to mess up from time to time. If you're a rich politician, or a rich comedian, you can now go to "slip-of-the-tongue" rehab!

There's nothing wrong with pointing out someone's ignorance. It just defines someone's lack of knowledge. Calling someone a retard or something like that on the other hand, is just plain childish.

Here's to the child in all of us!
Cheers!
