Why does it seem as though every time the news is on they always tell of negative things?? Why don't they ever tell of positive things? Why don't they ever tell of positive things more often?

First, let me state that I agree with you. I am tired of all the negativity. That is why I don't watch the news, or buy newspapers. I catch some headlines on the radio when I am driving, and skim the news on line.

The reason news is always negative/bad is because that is what sells. TV does not keep anything on the air which doesn't make them BIG money. "Good" news formats have been tried, and they always fail. Even when you try to look up "good-time" news stories on the net, about all you get is religious garbage.

The public is being given what they want. Seeing what is successful, it sure doesn't say much in their favor.

Negative sells...positive is too bland.
At least that is what research shows and it has been proven when news media publishes only positive.

The reason why it sells?
Humans are curious about the unusual, the unknown and the tragic.
Case in point: next time you drive by a car accident or house fire, notice the other drivers sloooowing down to take a look.

Because it gets more viewers. People deep down like to hear about tragedy. Why do people slow down when they see a car wreck. Most of the time it isn't to see if they can help. Why do horror movies draw more people than love stories? The news shows what people really want to watch because the more people that watch the more money they make from those that pay for advertisements during their program. Its all about money.
