Maybe I am just paranoid but I am very suspicious of the BT home hub and since I installed it there have been incidents which make me feel insecure about my privacy. I replaced it with my old router and I am getting a lot of problems with it. ( Bad connections, slow running,Websites and links not opening and an increase in the number of times I get not responding messages etc.) Am I being paranoid and is this just my PC playing up

All your surfing goes up the wires to BT. They can monitor EVERYTHING on the wires (should they wish to).

MUCH more likely is that your Home Hub is providing "free" Internet access to all your neighbours (everyone knows the default user name 'admin', password 'admin':-) )

Check out Wireless Security (hint - first thing to do is disable 'Broadcast Network Name' (SSID) - next is to change the name to something less easy to guess ...)

No your not paranoid....BT doesn't need to install anything on your pc....it's all monitored by their servers! As you probably know, all Pc's have their own ID code or IP Address, as soon as you log on, they can tell how much you download.....(AND WHAT!!!) every month......worrying eh? It makes no difference what equipment you use, your IP address is the same.
